Is it a bit like this?

Pretty much the complete opposite.

Has anyone ever heard a phrase that resembles this?

"I don't begrudge believers their crutch, I just wish they'd refrain from whacking me with it."

I can't remember hearing it, it seems pretty obvious though.
It's possible I have heard it and forgotten.

Google hasn't heard it in that form, nor with "hitting" in place of "whacking." I agree that it sounds like something that has likely already been said, but I'm not aware of hearing it before, either.  Provisionally, I would put it in the following form:

It would make a fine t-shirt and bumper sticker.  ;)

I can't find any variation either.  Pudding, I think it's yours.  My suggestion would be to replace "refrain from" with "stop" to make it punchier.  And then market the hell out of it!  ;)
