Why Fish Oils Work Swimmingly Against Inflammation and Diabetes

QuoteScienceDaily (Sep. 2, 2010) â€" Researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine have identified the molecular mechanism that makes omega-3 fatty acids so effective in reducing chronic inflammation and insulin resistance.

The discovery could lead to development of a simple dietary remedy for many of the more than 23 million Americans suffering from diabetes and other conditions.

Writing in the advance online edition of the September 3 issue of the journal Cell, Jerrold Olefsky, MD, and colleagues identified a key receptor on macrophages abundantly found in obese body fat. Obesity and diabetes are closely correlated. The scientists say omega-3 fatty acids activate this macrophage receptor, resulting in broad anti-inflammatory effects and improved systemic insulin sensitivity...

An interesting development/discovery of personal interest as I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetic in Aug 2005.

Righty O then.

Whisk 3 eggs with a fork.
Add 1 cup of flour
1 cup of milk ( I actually use 1/2 a cup of skim milk powder and 1 cup of water)
1 Table spoon of some sought of oil, I use olive oil.
Have at it with your fork for a bit.
A finely chopped onion, I like to microwave it before adding it.
A 420g can of salmon, give the boney and ugly black stuff to any animal spectators.
I use the liquid from the can, otherwise you need to add a little more water.
3/4 cup of grated cheese, I use a low fat mozzarella.
A bit more fork work.

Cook it in something equivalent to a 20cm square baking dish.
I cook at 160 for about 40 minutes.  My oven is fan forced and comparatively hot I think.

You can do much the same with bacon, but you have to add an extra 1/2 cup of water because it is drier.

Goes well with salad, good for lunch with tomato on toast.

Thank you. I shall try that. Have you attempted it with fresh salmon?

No, haven't used fresh salmon.
I don't see why it wouldn't work, as it is it's something that can be knocked up at any time.
