If you ever find yourself in New York you should visit the StoryBooth in the middle of Grand Central Terminal. The booth charges ten dollars an hour, during which you can record a "broadcast-quality" interview with anyone you'd like. I wish this was around in my uncle's day who had some very intersting and bizarre stories from WWII alone! Anyways, this booth is a part of StoryCorps ( http://www.storycorps.org ). On their website you can upload your own stories or listen to others'. I thought you all may find this of interest to use for preserving your loved ones and friends life story, not to mention it would be interesting to hear your stories!

No, I recently returned from a visiting a friend in NY. I love the city but my wife hates it.

I love the city but my wife hates it.

So does mine, and she was born and raised here.  Actually, that might be why she hates it.  I, on the other hand, was not born and raised here.  So consequently...I love it.

Everyone surely got their license from a cereal box and the bike riders are fearless - or perhaps "trusting" is the word. The most stressful driving I've ever done.

Oh, no...no I do drive.  When I absolutely cannot get out of it.  I used to just cry and wail and shriek in fear as soon as I pulled out onto the road here, but it's slowly gotten better.  Now I merely whimper semi-inaudibly.  Or slowly simmer in rage.  There is a kind of flow to it, that follows some brand of chaos theory or other.  I actually think drivers go temporarily insane the second they step in their cars in NY.  There must be a clinical designation for it.  Whenever I try to claim that it doesn't bother me to drive, my wife simply nods her head and stares meaningfully at the kung fu death grip I have on the steering wheel.

The WORST, however, are Jersey drivers.  And don't let them tell you differently.
