Bionic feet for amputee cat

The new feet are custom-made implants that "peg" the ankle to the foot. They are bioengineered to mimic the way deer antler bone grows through the skin.

The operation - a world first - was carried out by Noel Fitzpatrick, a veterinary surgeon based in Surrey.

Quite true. Helen McCartney has a similar implant AFAIK, it's not uncommon in the repair work being done on the amputees coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Isn't it awesome?  There was a dog here in the states a few years back that had it done at Alameda East http://www.alamedaeast.com/ and was shown on Animal Planet :D
