But what the Church does teach is that sexual intimacy by anyone outside marriage is wrong; that marriage is a sacramental covenant; and that marriage can only occur between a man and a woman. These beliefs are central to a Catholic understanding of human nature, family and happiness, and the organization of society. The Church cannot change these teachings because, in the faith of Catholics, they are the teachings of Jesus Christ."

So... this is a new take on it for me.  It's not that you're GAY... it's that you're having sex outside of marriage (which can only be between a man and woman).  Ah, crystal clarity ensues!

I am the nephew of a lesbian, and her partner. They have a daughter. They are all Catholic. I have a feeling they would be sickened to read this. I know it makes me sick.

If one day even the Catholic Church recognizes gay marriage, I sincerely hope that communities like ours have grown to the point where enough people will start asking the question: If the "word of god" can change so drastically simply by humans deciding that it does, then why call it the "word of god"? If this then is merely the words of man over thousands of years, why call it god?

You know ... I just realized no one here has made this comparison.  So how hypocritical do the Catholics need to be?  It's wrong to have a child with 2 mothers attending catholic school when we all know little billy in this girls class will probably get diddled by one of their priests.  We can't have the girl because that will be confusing .... yeah ... confusing ... 2 mom's is hard to grasp just like pedophilia apparently.  I wonder if any of the priests have said, "Officer I don't know what you were talking about it was consensual I swear ... i'm  a man of god would I lie?"  Well... you rape little boys ... so thinking you lie isn't a big stretch.

EVER... have been any cover stories and everyone would have been fired and excommunicated.  The priest who did the deed, the nuns who watched and did nothing, the cardinals who shuffled them, the current pope who ordered the secrecy before he was pope, EVERYONE involved in the cover up... I bet Vatican would have maybe 10 members left to run it.  Get the pedophiles who prey on children who can't defend themselves the fuck out and in jail.  But ... no this is alright ... but one kid with 2 moms .... no thats just wrong...
