Is anybody here interested in the marital arts?  As for me I love the marital arts but I'm never been in one spot long enough to obtain any sort of rank.  So far out all the different types I've tried Aikido is differently my favorite.

Aikido is pretty cool and interesting.  I studied aikijujitsu (a predecessor to aikido) of a little while before taking up Chinese boxing (kung fu).  I haven't really practiced in several years though - school and work have kinda destroyed that.  But hopefully once I'm done with school I can get back into it.

When I was a little kid I took Taekwondo.  However nothing in recent years.  My friend used to describe Taekwondo as trying to drive a nail in with a screwdriver.  It might get the job done but there are more effective tools out there lol.  I watch MMA when I get a chance.  I find that very entertaining.

I thought this thread was about painting pictures of your spouse. Why are you guys talking about Aikido, and jujitsu and other fighting stuff?

That stuff is Martial Arts. This thread is about Marital Arts. Geez!

You were incredibly lucky to get the opportunity to study that, as I've found that there aren't to many aikijujitsu schools out there.

I took Krav Maga and grappling when I was younger. I'd like to find time for it again.
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

I was lucky in that my instructor was a personal friend who had studied it most of his teen and adult years.

Big Mac

I've taken Karate and Kung-Fu (Hun Gar) when I was younger. Personally I want to learn Boxing and Krav Maga as well as Greco-Roman wrestling.

One set of techniques I'd like to learn from Kung-Fu is Iron Fist and Iron Shirt. Those would be useful techniques to know.

Okay, I'll play too, and not just be a smartass about the title.  :D

Kodenkan Judo and Jujitsu from the tender age of 13 until about 39 or 40. I forget when I stopped, exactly, just that the twice torn rotator cuff told me it was time to quit and leave the competition to the younger studs.

Does anybody watch Mixed Martial Arts, UFC, Strikeforce ect?  Here in Oz there just finally starting to put it on free to air TV.  However there are a quite a few good matches on youtube, the one with Kazushi Sakuraba vs Royce Gracie in 2000 Pride Grand Prix is a stand out.  Up and till that point Royce had never really lost a match and it signaled the decline of total dominance the Gracie’s had enjoyed before.

Hubby watches MMA and UFC.  If I happen to walk into the room while it's on I watch it, too.  A few of the matches I've seen have been pretty awesome.  I get bored when there's too much grappling on the floor.
