Hi all I figured I would actually introduce myself instead of just jumping into some conversations like I normally do on most forums.

A little about myself (well just the free-thinker side of me). I grew up in a "Christian" family and realized at an early age (15 to be exact) that I didn't like the whole setup. I remember many times of my parents arguing before and after church but not during because they wanted to appear like a "good Christian family." The good Christian family didn't survive very long as they got divorced (I guess you can only live the lie but so long). There were also many times during my childhood that I was so scared because of things my parents told me about going to hell and the end of the world. Of course my mom was the type that believe the government was out to get her and against all religion and the mark of the beast was on everything (probably even soup lol) so that didn't help either.

I did try Christianity again around the age of 14-15 just to see again and it made me dislike it even more because I could see how fake everyone was. I have decided that if I ever have kids I would encourage free-thinking and let them choose their own religion or not instead of forcing fear down their throat. Being a spare the rod spoil the child era (or at least my mom thought so) I would not want to subject ANYONE to that kind of treatment. As well as the mental beating that I suffered by thinking the world was going to end at every little event...

Skipping forward to the present there are quite a few things that keep reinforcing my non belief (not including the science facts that disprove Christianity to me) like all the Christians attempting to force their believes on me, and the mistreatment of people around me for believing another religion or non-religion. This even happens at work ugh! More on that story later!

Well there is my LONG intro, looking forward to posting on HAF!

Hello and welcome, ozzmannt.  Thanks for your eloquent introduction.  I look forward to reading more posts from you.  :)

Very nice introduction.  When people tell me the world will end crap I tell them that the bible, which was written nearly 2000 years ago, said that the world would end soon.  Its been 2000 years and still nothing ... then I ask them do you think Jesus got it wrong?  Usually a conversation ender but it sews the seeds of doubt that should be cultivated in years to come.

I think their timing is off on just about everything anyways :P

God made the Earth in seven days, but requires at least 2,000 years to build us all houses in heaven.
