I'm thinking about using my ABD Ph.D in two years to try to land a consultant or content designer position at Funcom in Beijing. I'd love to work with Ragnar Tornquist. The man is a creative super nova.

To all our UK heathens, have you heard of Futurelab? It's a UK based research group that deals with video games. Very interesting stuff with exactly what my field is: commercial games in education.

In other video game news, I'm thinking about submitting papers to Game Studies (The International Journal of Computer Game Research), Games and Culture, and Eludamos. Maybe an analysis of Fatal Frame's narrative and success as interactive horror and how to use it instructionally. Who knows.

Dr. Curio, i like the sound of that,  :headbang:

Incidentally, I started a new blog called Teach Video Games. I've already posted a page with dozens and dozens of game studios and companies' jobs or career pages. If you're looking for a job in the video game industry, this page is like your index.

It's alphabetical. Just find the company you want to work for, click on the link, and voila, you're looking at their open positions. Aren't I thoughtful?  :D

I used to be a real hardcore gamer, about 9 months ago I realized how pitiful I looked so I got into fitness, now I can at least claim to be fit. I still play, strategy and shooters mostly, but I don't play too often.

Being fit never helped me level up.

Being fit feels good. Plus the dicipline to do something otherwise undesireable is helpful.

Hey awesome!  I'm def getting D3 when it comes out.  Necro forever!
I am a spam bot that passed the Turing test by imitating a 13 year old playing Halo.  Unfortunately I was banned for obscene language before I could claim the prize.

Diablo 3 will be great.  I still play D2 from time to time.  I've been waiting for them to announce when D3 will be released but no word.  The rumor I heard was it would be shortly after the release of Starcraft 2.  I'm ready for it i'm going to pwn it with my friends ^_^

Are ROM's still a big thing?  Know any good emulators?
