So I've been away... With the creationists...

I've been over at Evolution Fairytale forum trying to spread some sense.  In my time there I have learned that man has no idea what electricity or fire is, that cancer and HIV do not exist, that stellar formation violates Boyle's Gas Law, that the Combined Gas Law is not really a law at all but an evolutionist ploy to justify the possibility of stellar formation, that all radioactive dating methods are wrong at all times even if no reason for this can be given and the in spite of the evidence to the contrary, that naturalism is the belief that there is no supernatural, and that evolutionists babble and twist words and commit logical fallacies while having nothing to support their evotheism.

I'm tempted not to go back there but part of me really can't let them talk like that without opposition.  It's not about my ego, it's that someone could see that BS and think it's right.  If you ask some of these creationists to clarify something for you, they say you're playing word games.  Near as I can tell, that forum exists so they can convince themselves they're beating down science by beating down straw men and people who want to show them the evidence supporting the other side (maybe I'm not helping, but giving them a soft proxy to face science with, but no scientist is going to be able to teach them anything anyway, and hopefully wouldn't take the time to try).  Bringing an argument they can't counter just results in a thread falling silent until someone changes the topic.  There is no body of evidence they will find convincing, but they absolutely will not apply that same skepticism to their holy book which is what supposedly tells them what really happened.

Sorry, you all know this, but lords, I don't think there's anything to be gained.
I'm just gonna continue my lurking here.

Want some help? I could join up as a powerful rival of evolution build up a stellar reputation and then be devastated by you in a debate.  lol

I'm on a conservative forum right now pretending to be a traditional conservative (small government, limited taxes, socially moderate, etc). It's pissing off all the neoconservatives (military expansionists, birthers, etc.).
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

Oh my god, they are really denying the ideal gas law arent they? Even I have done experiments that show it works, we have gone through derivations. Some people are incredible, this is really quite startling to me.

To be fair, denying the ideal gas law seems a small logical/scientific mistake compared to assuming there's a god. I mean, let's keep this in perspective.

Evolutionists babble and twist words? Oh my non existent god what have I been doing with my life, of course since those who believe in the old man in the sky say so we all must be stupid. LoL how could I have been so stupid. (If you cant tell that this is sarcasm, you probably shouldn't be on this forum.)
When the last bastion of religion falls the religious will look up at the sky and ask their God why? And then they will collapse wailing and grinding their teeth. The atheist will look at his feet and say "I think that I can build something better here!"

SSY

Believing in an unfalsifiable claim is one thing, especilly if you have been brainwashed into it from birth.

But one day, deciding that the ideal gas law contradicts one of your superstitions, and is therefor wrong, and then vehmently railing against all of science for propping it up is quite another. You can even do experiments that prove it works, but of course they wont, because they are morons, who want to continue being morons.

Just an aside:

I used to try and talk sense to creationists on their forums and Usenet groups...

If you can stand dealing with their squawking and idiocy for longer than an hour without running screaming into the night, consider yourself a brave and stalwart person. Really. I mean, jeez.

Thanks everyone.  I'm barely keeping my sanity, I'm about to drop that place.  One of them is now asserting that all systems are closed and therefore always moving to disorder because putting a dead body in sunlight doesn't bring the person back  (this means the dead body is a closed system, molecular systems are equally closed.  Yes, I realize there is a gap in that reasoning large enough to drive a truck through).  There is so much wrong with that I don't even want to touch it.  The micro-organisms decomposing the body would have access to any additional energy afforded by the sun, as well, photosynthetic organisms might actually be able to use it.  The person seems to be dumb on purpose, equating the human body's inability to convert heat energy into the chemical, electrical, and mechanical energy, which the body needs to survive, with the inability of an open system to increase order.  Hell, he's even abusing the colloquial definition of order with complexity!  It is entirely possible a dead human could be brought to a state of far greater order, but that would not restore the complex array of entropies and orders in the living body.  Besides, without the necessary reactants, no amount of energy (that wouldn't destroy the body entirely) can undo the chemical destruction of autolyzed cells.  I may be wrong about a lot of things, but even this guy's sixth grade science teacher would whap him for suggesting that plants did not maintain local order at the cost of order in the sun.

Sorry if that doesn't read right, I'm a bit frustrated and my sentence structure is suffering.   I'm just waiting for one of the members, who relies entirely on rhetoric, to plow through a couple of my post.  He's a real cocksure and righteous conspiracy theorist, a bastion of self-reinforcement that no doubt considers himself a creation anchor who keeps sheep from buying into the lies of science.  Then again, his pathos and ethos just caught the pimp hand of logos so maybe he'll be less inclined to try again.  Then again, maybe I'm just pissing him off.  I already got a warning for telling everyone how something was a quote mine.  Or rather, for not backing that statement, when mere context indicates the quotes were misused and in one case, fabricated.  Well, it'll be for the best if they ban me.  As long as I can post I'm sure to be disappointed by the replies.
