super fantastic

I just got back from the movies with Sydney. She actually met me there since she said she had an appointment before the movie. I thought it went pretty decently since we talked some and I feel more comfortable being around her now. I didn't get to drive her home since she said she was going to meet her dad at Paneras across the street, which disappointed me a bit.

She said she had an appointment on a Sunday?  Hmmm.  Maybe Sydney just prefers to be in charge of her own arrival and exit strategies when dating someone new...which is pretty smart.  I wouldn't hold it against her.

Do you have another date planned before prom?

Maybe she went to church and called it an appointment since she knows you're not religious?

Well, I'm going to Busch Gardens with her on Friday for Science Honor Society... does that count? I may ask her out again next weekend though.

I dunno... Although she did wear short shorts and flip flops... is that normal to wear to church?  ;)

Group dates count as a date, but try to get a minute alone with her to talk.  Girls love positive feedback on their last date, so say something nice about that.  Don't forget to breathe and smile.   :D

Also, if she really did go to church before seeing a movie with me, I don't see why she would need to lie about it since I don't care. I'm a very tolerant and liberal person and so is she. Besides, I think she's Episcopalian, one of the fairly liberal Christian sects.

One other thing: on Friday, how do I know if she wants to sit with me or her friends on the bus to Busch Gardens?

Ask her.

Yes, ask her!  Or tell her you'll save her a seat.  People always save the seat right next to them!  (Gee, giving dating advice is fun!)

Damn I just found out that she's unable to go to Busch Gardens. Our school has something called the Capstone Project, which is a community service project and the best projects from each government class goes on to a schoolwide competition. Sydney's project was chosen and the competition is on the same day as our Busch Gardens trip so she can't go... I'm really sad and disappointed right now. Megan may not even go since she says she needs to practice a big song in orchestra.  :(  I was really looking forward to spending the entire day with her on Friday so this really sucks... I don't really feel like going now... I guess I'll make up for it by asking her out again this weekend?

Hey, can you guys also give me some advice on how to joke and flirt with her? I want to make her laugh but I'm not known to be that much of a joker and I've never really flirted before. I appreciate everyone's advice and input so far!

MommaSquid

Sorry to hear that Busch Gardens is a no-go.

Godless, just be yourself.   Be polite and attentive to your date.  Throw out a compliment or two.  Try not to be nervous.  (Okay, that last one's easier said than done.  No one said dating was easy!)  You'll do just fine.

^ditto.

You can't force jokes, flirting, etc...you just be yourself.  Just don't do this ---> roflol  or this---> :drool  while on the date and you'll be ok.

Oh, if you go out to eat (like a nice restaurant) don't order anything that makes a mess.

Avoid soups and spaghetti until you get over being nervous when you're out on a date with you lady friend.

Also, pay attention when you say or do something that might be funny.  If she's got a mouth full of food or is in the act of taking a drink, don't try to see how far you can get her to shoot food out of her nose.  You shouldn't try for any distance records until you've been together a few years.  :D
