So whats your favorite expletive. They don't have to be the standard fuck, shit, ect but can be if that's your thing. I personally like Balls it works about as well as fuck does but not as offensive and it's slightly more original. They don't even have to be the standard vulgar fare. Whatever you yell out when you stub your toe, or forget a birthday or whatever. While I know many people don't like "curse" words. They don't have power unless you give them power. They are just words and everyone says something when the hit their thumb with a hammer, whats yours?

I will adimit my time in the Army has laced my language very colorfully. Cursing is VERY common in the miitary. I'm sure every vet or anyone who knows a vet can attest to this. I knew a guy who said fuck literally every 2 or 3 words, but thats an extreme. I also had a first searget whos perferred expetives were dog gone and friggin, which he also said every 2 or 3 words much to our ammusement. You could tell he was a heavy curser who had cleaned up his language, but it just made him sound comical.

I occasionally drop the f-bomb but not too often.  I find that the effect is stronger if I use expletives sparingly.

I'm also fond of Jesus Fucking H Christ.

Fucking H Christ if I'm in a hurry.   :D

I tend to yell "cocksucker!" while driving.  Not that there's anything wrong with sucking cock, I just learned it from my Daddy, whose favorite curse it was.  It's almost totally unconscious for me.

I must admit, i do swear a lot. Maybe i should kerb it but i find it theraputic :)
I called someone a 'chode stroker' yesterday. I think i got that from a film i watched recently. It had the desired effect though; it made them laugh.
QuoteI find it mistifying that in this age of information, some people still deny the scientific history of our existence.

the one swear word i use most often is "διάβολε" or in Cypriot accent "θκιάολε" which, to my friend;s horror means devil/satan. Its the equivalent of dammit... only a little more "heavier"

You just brought up quite a curious topic

See, there are regions here where people use a lot of swear words. Most of them have their equivalent in English. Well here we almost use a swear word in each sentence sometimes. There are even encyclopedias about this subject!

Also there are bad words or expressions with a positive meaning (you know, cojonudo, esto es la polla, de puta madre and such)

In the region where I live there is a "rich tradition" on blasphemy:
[spoiler:3f0t8kes]Some of the favourites are "ostia puta", ostia means "sacred Host" and puta means "bitch";
"me cago en dios", literally meaning "I shit in god", or "me cago en la ostia puta"
"me cago en la virgen puta", meaning more or less "I shit in that bitch virgin Mary"
plus combinations, DIY.

There are a lot more but this is what comes to my mind now

There are also expressions like "never say this priest is not my father" or "Where Christ lost his lighter" that tend to offend religious people. Needless to say, A portion of the religious people also use these blasphemous forms.

You can see there is quite a resentment towards the church here[/spoiler:3f0t8kes]

(You know, Chimera , in case you didn't know this may be some tasty stuff for your studies  :D  )
Which leads me to pose a question to you: are there any equivalent in English to these expressions? I mean, somehow I find things like "holy fucking christ" like softer than the ones i've just written in Spanish. Plus, as seen things like American people getting offended by saying "Jesus Christ!" and taking it like a blasphemy... I wonder if there is something comparable in English.

Well not wanting to divert the thread anymore, I'll say mine.... which I think is "cagüen tu puta madre"
We talk really, really dirty around here...

Wow, I never knew that this site could be so educational  ;) . My favorite curses are pretty much multilingual. I shit and fuck around a bit, but these words are pretty much harmless here in Germany compared with "Blödes Arschloch" (stupid ashole), "Drecksack" (filthy bastard) or "Schlampe" (bitch). Since I lived in France for 3,5 years, I also learned some nice French expressions, like "Connard" (idiot) , "Va te faire foutre, trouduc" (Fuck off, asshole) or "Bordel putin de merde" (Brothel whore [full] of shit). But, we Dutch have also some interesting swear words, like "Tyfusslet" (lt. typhusslut), "Godver[domme]" (Goddammit),  "Kutwijf" (lt. cuntwife, bitch) or "Klootzak" (lt. bollocks, ashole)

This has been good so far. I love learning new curses, and it's interesting to learn about the cultural diferences.

I've had a few Islader friends over the years. A common curse in the Marshal Islands is (pheneticly) ka-dij-ee-baum which traslates to something like "you suck your fathers dick". They use it the same way we would use  mother fucker in America.

Some expetives are so culturaly specific that they make little sesnse when tranlated while others are universal, or while not used globaly are obvious when translated. Since I belive no word can have any power unless you give it that power I chose expletive instead of "curse words' as they are called in America. That and not all or even most expletives are curses, I dought anyone would take offense to "darn doodly".

That one's my favorite, too!  I use it all the time.  Though I'm not sure what the "H" stands for.  Any ideas?

I usually use abstract combination. Jesusfuck, shittard, dumbshit. And casually but not in anger I came up with 'cuntmuffin'.

I always thought of the "H" standing for Herbert.
Also, I don't use the "jesus fucking H christ" very often, I tend to use "jesus H.W. fucking christ" or one of my personal favorites (from Team America: World Police), "jesus tittyfucking christ".

I also tend to go for the uncommon mixtures of words such as fuck, ass, shit, dick, head, hat, mouth, and so on...
examples: fuckass, shitass, asshead, ass hat, dickmouth, shitmouth, shitdick, and so forth...  ;) )

I think it stands for Hell if I know.    :D

There are several possible explanations here.

Fuckwit is a perenial favorite.

An Indian room-mate of mine introduced me to "benchod", or sister fucker. They have words for motherfucker and variations, but sister fucker seems to get the most use.
