Christian Buses

Living in London, I have seen a number of the buses emblazoned with the Dawkins sponsored message, and have been cheered by the sight of them on every occasion.

However, in their well reasoned and unbiased way, the Christians have launched their own campaign on London's buses. Walking up Gower Street, I saw across the side of a bendy bus;

“There definitely is a God . Now join the Christian party and enjoy your life" (note the G, there is a god, a Christian god!) I also like the way it is printed in the same style as the originals adverts, Christians always were good at ripping off the practices of other people.

Nice to see the Christians use verifiable statements, and manage to avoid cynically pushing their agenda for their own gain. What’s this Christian party? Will there be beer?

It's really important you click the last one. Really, Really important you click it, then post your slogans back here.

The Christian party? Do they mean Republicans and Torys, those parties that desperately chase after evangelicals like a freshman chasing after a varsity cheerleader? Or do they mean party like the fact that more Christians are alcoholics, more Christians have teen pregnancies, more Christians get divorces, more Christians are in prison, and more Christians are in organized hate groups? Maybe they mean party like one or more people entering into a contract, where in this case the party you're joining is singing away your life, freedom, intellectual honesty, and peace?

The funny part was there wasn't even an attempt to be agnostic with the inclusion of "definitely". It's shameful.

There are muslim bus ads here in San Francisco. I wasn't fast enough with my cell phone to get a picture but I think it said:

"Islam
Submission to God"

No pictures just text. The word "Islam" was took up 2/3 of the ad. The remainder was in smaller text below it.

QuoteI find it mistifying that in this age of information, some people still deny the scientific history of our existence.

Quote from: "SSY"Christians always were good at ripping off the practices of other people.

Rock music, advertising ads, postmodernism, what's next??? They try to incorporate any original idea and claim it in the name of Jeysus!

Not to say that religion doesn't have their own original practices, such as perfecting torture devices and emotional appeals for money.

Same campaign here in Spain, same design and motto.

Two campaigns, one from catholics and another from evangelicals (don't know how to say it in English).

This stuff (the atheist bus) made a racket here. Lots of people got very offended and as always happens here, the whole thing turned into the old political confrontation that has been always in our country.
(a bit off-topic, but not worth making a new thread i think) This last thing reminds me that the Spanish episcopal conference sent a supporting letter to Ratzinger with all the issue he was (is?) having about those negationist bishops he let rejoin their club.

Heh. This is a pretty funny site. You can do whatever you want.

I think it's wrong to label a bus "a christian bus" or "a muslim bus" or "a hindu bus". I think it is unfair because a bus is not able to think about what it means to be a religious bus. It should not automatically be assumed to be of the same religion as its sponsor. This is bus abuse!
