Hebrew alphabet and creation

I found this extremely interesting about Tenen's discovery with the Hebrew alphabet and the 3D torus shape.  The complexity seems to be way more than I assumed the people of that time possessed.  It's pretty interesting.  There's a bunch of videos on youtube, but it may take some time to get the gist.

QuoteWorking by instinct, Tenen took the 28 letters of the familiar verse describing God’s creation of heaven and earth and arranged them on a chain of beads. When each lettered bead was matched up with the next occurrence of that letter, the chain curled up to form a three-dimensional spiral doughnut known to mathematicians and spiritualists alike as a torus. Tenen then folded this shape into a form resembling a hand â€" capable, when properly backlit, to reproduce, in shadow form, the shapes of all 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. He then diagrammed the connection between these projected letters, the hand gestures to which they are thought to correspond and the universal meanings behind the gestures. For example, hold up your hands and his folded torus shape to your mouth, and it forms the Hebrew letter pe, which means “mouth.” Hold your hands over your head, and it forms the Hebrew letter resh, for “head.” (Illustrations can be found on the Web site of Tenen’s Meru Foundation, http://www.meru.org

They sell things, that immediately made me skeptical.

In addition, it sounds to me like they are clutching at straws a bit, "if you hold up an object, and fold it in certain ways, and move your arms and body in certain ways, you can make 2 letters of the alphabet!". Sounds like a more sombre version of the village people.

Maybe so, but you can't blame a brother for trying to get some scratch.  The first couple videos of his 1980's-ish speech describes in pretty good detail his discovery and was pretty convincing to me.  No, I haven't committed to judaism (I'm not a big fan of the yamika), but it is fascinating if his findings are true.

Unfortunatley due to computational limitations ( ie, the old box i find myself at ) videos are off bounds to me for the moment. Does he show any pictures of the coilde toroid made out of letter beads, I have a hard time imaging a toroid mappe din the way he described buy with only 28 elements in its constuction. I can't help but think it would be too lumpy to a) form a decent toroid, or b) form a decent hand shape.

Here are a few stills of one of his videos that shows the form in question.  This thing fits in your hand with your thumb in the small loop.  From my recent understanding of the Hebrew alphabet, it is similar to chinese.  Each letter has a distinct definition.  For example, Hei expresses revelation of self in the act of giving of oneself to another.  With the shape that fits in one's hand you use a sign language for the meaning of each letter (he describes each meaning in the vid below for those who wish to view).  Apparently it is meant as a guide to take you through a progression of each letter of the Hebrew alphabet as a Tai Chi-like dance.  It's very hard to visualize, I know.  Hope this helps a bit.

Those still don't look like any torus i have ever seen, though I certainly appreciate you taking the time to accomodate my technical fallabilities.

Mathematicaly define toroid

Delicious toroid.

Edit: Ok, lets, for arguments sake, say this is true, what would that imply? That the hebrew alphabet/language had some sort of designer? Who would that designer be?

Apparently the first part of Genesis (or whatever the Jewish equivalent is) was recognized as a pattern of the sequence of the Hebrew alphabet.  He placed the scripture on a string and lined up the paired up any of the same characters.  If you place this string onto a torus, you get the 3D shape that I showed in the previous picture.  The shape is then a guide to the dance or meditation as dictated by this same verse of scripture.  I know I'm not doing it justice, sorry.

As to what it implies, I have no frickin' idea.  To me, it's revolutionary to my own view of a 'primitive' people and I'm curious as to it's origin and evolution.

Me love doughnuts!

I went out and bought a donut after posting that. True story
