I regularly write fiction for others (custom erotica) to meet their specifications.  It has really helped me to write and to finish what I start even on my own projects.  I just create a set of expectations and treat it exactly as if a client wanted the story.

I'll admit I squirm and twist and sweat forcing out some stories but I get them done that way.  Most writing is actually rewriting and then rewriting again until it's decent.  Once you have a half-assed version of what you are trying to write you can work it and finesse it into the story you want it to be.  You'll be shocked how easily the rewriting goes even if the end product is almost completely different from the original draft.

Haha, same for me, but some good came out of it!
"Think as I think," said a man,
"Or you are abominably wicked;
You are a toad."

And after I had thought of it,
I said, "I will, then, be a toad."
