Re: Fantasy Series Suggestions?

I myself am needing to read up on Fantasy series myself. I would like to add at least one well deserved recommendation along with the others'.

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. While it is just one book (400+ pages), it is high fantasy in the regard that it is so incredible and magnificent in its scope that it seems to put most other fantasy stories to shame.

I've seen and enjoy the movies. At least the first of them, and the others not as much. But the book itself combines nearly all the elements of all three movies, and also of the two TV series based on the one book (Tales From The Neverending Story, and The Animated Adventures of The Neverending Story) and is actually even bigger and better than all of those combined. You'll need to read it all through to find out what I mean, of course. Michael Ende was a super genius of a fantasy writer who has inspired me as such tremendously.

I just found the entire audiobook uploaded to Youtube so I'll definitely listen to it during the holidays!

there's Asmo's series but that's pretty crappy too.

Ah, but that's His Holy-Divine Gray Droppings kind of crappy, and that's the best variety.

Jack Vance: the Planet of Adventure series (which is a lot better than that title suggests) and the Demon Princes series.  Five novels in each.  Inventive SF with quite a lot of humour.
