I was thinking, and I have noticed this about prayer:

People will pray to God when a family member is sick a dieing, for God to watch over them and heal them in their time of need. Now, we know that that is going to have no effect on what is going to happen.

Let's say that they get healed: Oh praise the Lord! God Al' Mighty! He has healed my brother/sister/mother/father/uncle! He has healed them and watched over them!

Let's say that they die: Well, God works in mysterious ways and everything happens for a reason. He wanted this to happen for reasons we do not know of, and is in a better place now (NOT).

That is a GREAT way to convince people a lie.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. - Buddha

I pity da foo'!

This is a major pillar of the atheistic argument. The whole if-it-works-it-was-God-if-not-then-God-wanted-it-that-way thing... not Mr. T pitying people. Though, I suppose it could be... maybe...

Everyone does this though on some level, everyone wants to feel that things couldn't be better.

Yes, reminds me of the video of the milk jug who answers prayers in the form of yes, no, or wait.

sigh... I know what you mean.

This is basically a restating of heads i win tails you lose. whatever the argument, god must exist, exactly the kind of argument theist like.
