Yeah, I like that song too.  Back when I was in college (U of I, Urbana-Champaign) there was this bar that played this every day at midnight.  The whole crowd would sing along.  I thought it was great fun.

My 8yo son put this on the jukebox at a restaurant over the weekend.  LOL!!  I LOL because while *I* was singing the American Pie lyrics, the hubby and the Kid were singing the lyrics to Weird Al's "The  Saga Begins."  I finally had to join them because it's just too catchy.

I love that song as well. BTW the whole American Pie album of Don Mclean is of the jewels in my CD collection. My favorite song on the album is "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), maybe that is because I'm Dutch and Vincent van Gogh is one of my favorite Dutch painters.
The universe never did make sense; I suspect it was built on government contract.

I can't even listen to "Vincent" without getting all teary... it's so sad.  And Don Mclean is such a pure voice, so the bare tones really accent the words in that song.

I use to like American Pie, until I listened to Weird Al. He's ruined me on that song, Gangsta's Paradise and Smells Like Teen Spirit...I'll never be able to sing the original lyrics ever again *hangs head in shame*
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punished the objects of his creation who purposed are modeled after out own - a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous eotisms" -Alb

LOL!  I hear ya!  I never heard Gangsta's Paradise and rarely ever heard Smells Like Teen Spirit, so those aren't too bad for me.  But I'm a big Joan Jett fan, so he ruined I Love Rock and Roll for me.  We're all Al fans here, so I banned that song in this house because I just can't let the Rocky Road lyrics permeate my consciousness.   ;)

You touched his hair? Lol.....suprisingly, I'm envious. It's so bouncy!

For christmas my brother got the Weird Al Yankovich dvd set that has all of his music videos, dating from the 80's to the present.....it's hilarious! Have you ever heard his song "Bob"?

LOVE that video!  He looks so much like Dylan, it's a hoot!  Do you have Straight Outta Lynwood?  I love that he put the videos on that multimedia CD/DVD!  Just wish he'd waited the few months for the White and Nerdy video to be done, but whatchagonnado?

Here's the kid in his W&N hoody the night we met Al.

And here we are with AL!!!

There's a few others in there as well.
