So, I found this forum after yet another discussion on another forum. The subject was that 70 year old woman who gave birth to twins, and someone replied that she wasn't the oldest woman to give birth, Sarah was older.

Yikes.

So, I decided to see if there was a forum somewhere where we could have a discussion about topics without seeing the G word appear every other post.

Am I at the right place?

Good Golly! Goodness Gracious! Great Gallopin' Goats!
We can use G words as much as we want.

You're in the right place and most welcome.

Jesus Christ!  Holy Shit!  Oh My God!  All just words here.  Pretty much meaningless. :P

Welcome to the forum!  I think that you'll like it here.

Welcome aboard! If you hear the "G" word here, it's most likely followed by a statement of non-existence. ;)

Enjoy!

The G word pops up now and again, but more often than not it's an objective and scientific look, which ends up in something like "Yeah, so that's not real. Wanna go get ice cream? I believe in rocky road."
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

Welcome Pricia! Ugh, I can completely relate to that "Sarah was older" thing. At a band function one time at my school, we were having a discussion on which spelling of Sara(h) was the "correct" one. I argued for my friend (Sara) that is was shorter and therefore easier to spell. The other girl (Sarah) said, "Yes, but mine is Biblical." *Gag* You should have see her face when Sara said "Oh my god." It was priceless.

Yeah, you're in the right place. HAF is pretty laid-back and has a good atmosphere.

Happy posting!

Welcome to the forum, Pricia. Glad you found us. You can discuss or not discuss the g-word as much as you want here. No sweat. Can you give us a little background on yourself? If you're not sure what to write, just go to the introductions thread and see what others have written. Doesn't have to be a novel, just a brief intro. And it's not absolutely mandatory, just a nice way to get to know new members.

If you want some suggestions, I threw together a little survey when I did my introduction.  :D

Ok about me... I'm 30, a stay at home mom, and I'm French but living in the US.

I've always been atheist. Heck my mom was Catholic and my dad protestant. None believed in G-d. That being said, I think 95% of the people I grew up with were atheists also. Needless to say, it was a shock when I started reading American forums. Ok, moving to the US was a shock too, but in my experience (and the few people I've actually met here), people are much more likely to preach on forums online than in real life - thanks God (haha). In France I can't ever remember a religious person preach.

I'm not going to go into details here, but I'm pretty anti-religion, and can't usually have any kind of conversation with a religious person without being ticked off as soon as they start mentioning God, and considering them narrow minded, hence not really worth having a discussion with. Must be why I don't have any friends here, although I'm fine with religious people as long as they don't preach really.

So yeah, that's me. I think I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one thinking this way (although my husband is the same way).

Ok a few things from the survey... I got a college degree in English as foreign language, so totally useless here, one of the reasons I'm a SAHM... I speak French and English, love all kinds of music, all kinds of movies, and I for books I love love love Peter F.Hamilton, but I like the Wheel of Time (I know, I'm a dork), Stephen King and some other fantasy stuff... I don't watch TV, I just use netflix when I'm interested in a show.

This is indeed the right place!!!!

Welcome!!

Hi Pricia, welcome to the forum.

Unless you go into the religious section of the forum, you won't run into preaching.  One of the few rules we have here is that if a theist must preach, they must do so in the appropriate area (and in a respectful manner).

I believe you found the right place here.  Welcome!  That type of thinking drives me nuts, too.  Glad you found us!
