Hello from the bible belt!  Atlanta has pockets of sanity, but Georgia is highly Christian.  I was one of those lemmings.  Be a good girl, don't raise a ruckus, be submissive to your husband, etc.  The more I read, thought, and talked to other thinking people, the less I believed.

So here I am, a recent de-convert.  My husband isn't thrilled, but he's a good person and respects the changes I'm going through.

I've been lurking here for awhile, so it's time for me to jump in with both feet.

Welcome to the forum, Sophie.

I lived in Duluth (Gwinnett County) for a few years, so I know what you mean when you say you live in a "highly Christian" area.   (gulp)

Maybe your husband will come around to your way of thinking.

See you around the forum.   :)

Thanks, everybody!

MommaSquid, I'm in Forsyth County!  So you know where I'm coming from!!!  I still see houses in the rural areas with the Confederate Flag.  I grew up in Alpharetta back when it was a small town.  Now's it's crowded and expensive.  Fun to visit, but I'm happy 30 minutes north, where a working couple can afford a house.  And the houses aren't so close together that you could pass a cup of sugar to your neighbor through the windows!  :-P

Georgia is very scenic and I'm glad I had the chance to live there.  We used to drive into the mountains every so often just to look at the scenery.  A friend of hubby's used to have a house on Lake Lanier (back when the lake had water in it!) and his view was really pretty.  Have you ever been to Callaway Gardens?  So worth the drive!  Georgia has it's charms.   :D
