Oh come on, wayjust1.  If you're going to pick anything out of the bible to believe - you go with Noah's Ark?  One of the most patently absurd stories of them all?

Not to mention your approach has a rather large logical hole in it:

Quote from: "wayjust1"IN 1904, if I am correct Zar Nicoles the II led an expedition to the mountains of modern day turkey. He had painting, and documentary of the arch the was preserved for two reasons. One, it was made out of goffer wood, as the bible points out, and secondly because it was frzen for thousands of years. Why havent we heard of this?? Because a few years late a communist, atheist government took over, kill Nicoles and his family and destroyed all records of the expedition.
If all the records of the expedition were destroyed, how did you hear about it?

Seriously!  You must think we all just fell off the apple cart or something.  Why not be honest about your intentions?  Come clean, man, it'll feel good.  Don't worry, we'll still talk to you.....

Quote from: "wayjust1"Listen, I know atheist call christians hipocritical, but now yall are doin that to me.  It not my fault if all the information that I look up, the stuff we find inacurrate, is does not turn out to be as such.  Oh, and jcm those are good points, most if not all are true, if you translate those stories with any widely accepted bible symbol book.  Another thing, you mentioned noah's arch, and the great flood.  Did you know that the arch has been found??  IN 1904, if I am correct Zar Nicoles the II led an expedition to the mountains of modern day turkey. Now we still are not allowed to go there because of there is a military base not far from there and the area is restricted.  I'm not saying I believe this, but I can't seem to disprove anything in it??????????????  HAs anyone else had this problem??

Sorry I don’t believe it. Sounds like that story is up there with alien abductions and bigfoot sightings.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -cs

wayjust1, you say that Zar (try 'Tsar') Nicholes (try 'Nicholas') found the arch (try 'ark') in 1904 (try '1916') then you ask "We haven't we heard of this??" - so if we haven't heard of this where does your information come from?

The theme of your posts is your 'studying' yet you are not able to relate the simplest, well documented, account with any accuracy. Tsar Nicholas II did NOT lead any expedition to Mount Ararat and the whole story was, apparently, based on a report in 1916 from a high altitude reconnaissance pilot.

For a self-proclaimed 'atheist', you sure do look, smell and sound like a deluded, in-bred christian!  A prime candidate for the title of 'Mr Gullible 2008'!

Please read the recent thread I posted on etiquette, Tom. Easy on the personal attacks. Thanks.

McQ, I stand admonished but can't see what could be construed as a personal attack - sure I corrected justway1's spelling and a date that was incorrect and pointed out that he (or she) was making himself sound like a deluded christian. Bearing in mind that justway1 has stated that he is an atheist who undertakes bible study to prove it wrong, I consider that it is right and proper that we should point out such things or he will just go on jeopardising our credibility by suggesting credence for the ridiculous flood story and anything else that he has been taken in by!

Tom, I am referring to this: For a self-proclaimed 'atheist', you sure do look, smell and sound like a deluded, in-bred christian! A prime candidate for the title of 'Mr Gullible 2008'!. If you tell somebody they look, smell and sound like a deluded, in-bred anything, you are attacking the person, not the argument. If I'm not being clear, please let me know and PM me.

Quote from: "Willravel"People lie, thus statistics lie.

For example, when they say that the US is Christian... it's not devout. The vast majority are lip service Christians. They don't go to church, but they're too lazy to figure shit out for themselves.

[align=center]

Here's some info from Finland.

Amount of Finnish Ev.luth.church members decreasing fast

2000    85%
2001    84,8%
2002    84,6%
2003    84,1%
2004    83,6%
2005    83,1%
2006    82,4%
2007    81,7%

Main reason to this seems to be that at least 1/3 of church members care so less being members of church that they didn't even bother to resign.
[Source: Finnish Evangelic-Lutheran Church Research Center]
Then year's 2003 freedom of belief act made resigning as easy as resigning from any other society (football club, mothers' needling club etc) and also email and web could be used.

I guess we can get below 80 % in couple of years.
