Tanks test infra-red invisibility cloak

Tanks could soon get night time invisibility thanks to a cloaking device that masks their infra-red signature.

Developed by BAE Systems, the Adaptiv technology allows vehicles to mimic the temperature of their surroundings.

It can also make a tank look like other objects, such as a cow or car, when seen through heat-sensitive 'scopes.

Researchers are looking at ways to make it work with other wavelengths of light to confer true invisibility...

Now sombody has to come up with an analysis algorithm that spots the pixelated nature of the cloak. Think of the research money.

He insisted and they were right as it was a 6mm (1/4") hex key that could be bought in a hardware store for less that $1. The congressmen went apoplectic and accused Chrysler of fraud. To which they responded that the competitive tendering process for the tank did not include the cost of the maintenance tool kit and they had to make their profit somewhere or what was the point of tendering in the first place? Chrysler said, quite rightly in my opinion, that the tendering process was so unrealistic that nobody had put in a realistic tender for the tank in isolation. They were proved right when the congressman went through Ford's tender. They had made unrealistic charges for the simulators that were part of their offer.
