From The Good News Website:

QuoteWorking from the most widely accepted text, the King James Version, Dawkins examines what the Bible really says...what its literal messages are, free of any denominational agenda.
Woo...

QuoteThe result is an eye-opening return to the most basic roots of faith, and a deeper, broader understanding of God's Word. Read with an open mind, knowing that while changing your way of thinking can feel uncomfortable, change can bring freedom, hope, and new understanding.
Woo woo.

Good grief....

What the KJV bible really really really and extra really says...metaphorically....analogous...
With literal messages to boot from the official Bible known for its mistranslations (you know it really means "virgin" and not "young girl".

A deeper and broader understanding in what ancient superstitious people passed orally down the generations until written down somewhere around 300BCE! Follow these goat herders through time from the stone age through the bronze age to end in the early iron age!

Jeeeez....Reading the Bible with an open mind, yet predisposed to faith and wanting a deeper understanding of it is still delusion. What a dolt.

Now, now Gawen, he's still a member so let's keep it civil please.

I really hope you two get to slug it out on here. So I hope 'Roll' makes his 10 and get's on with it  ;D

I'm going to have to re-read Monte Cristo now, imagining him a grey blob. That's what 15 years of being locked in a French dungeon does to a person.
French food doesn't suck too badly though, so... A fat grey blob  :P

The Good News: How Revealing Delusions In Christianity Will Bring Peace To All was published yesterday.  This book offers a new, fresh take on Christianity by using scripture to reveal the "delusions" in present-day Christianity.  Anyone searching for truth or just wants some good bible verses to shut-up "holy-roller" Christians would enjoy this read.

Hello and welcome to HAF, RollTide555. I took a look at your site, and thought it was interesting, but not interesting enough to spend $5 on the book, sorry.

1.  I have my doubts that "truth" can be found through interpreting the Bible.

2.  I've never encountered a holy roller Christian who could be shut up by me quoting Bible verses at them. Nor is it a priority of mine to try to shut them up: I'm not in the habit of accosting street preachers, I only attend church as a means of assuring easy relations with my family, and on the internet I can simply choose not to read the rantings of overzealous Christians.

So even though I don't see myself in the market for your book, I hope you stick around here. From reading the sample excerpts, I think that you could bring a worthwhile perspective to our discussions.

I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here.

The essence of the mind is not in what it thinks, but how it thinks. Faith is the surrender of our mind; of reason and our skepticism to put all our trust or faith in someone or something that has no good evidence of itself. That is a sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith is not.
