Hello fellow atheists! A little about me.....I am 26, from the midwest and was raised a christian from birth. During college, I enrolled in philosophy primarily to prepare for the seminary but little did I know that learning logic and rational thinking would lead me in the opposite intellectual direction! Thank goodness it did because I can take pride in the fact that I am now truly intellectually and ethically free! I am now taking steps to study medicine and make my new life meaningful, interesting and beneficial. I hope I get a chance to meet you all and discuss this interesting world we are all a part of!
Non-belief in a deity is not, in itself, a virtue. It is simply the first step on a journey towards intellectual maturity.

Welcome truthandwisdom. When I saw the username, I thought you'd be a theist coming in here to preach. I dunno, the name seemed to fit that stereotype here. Good to see I was wrong. Look forward to having you here, it's a great site.

Just watch out for tank. He's a twilight fanboy.
Prayers that need no answer now, cause I'm tired of who I am
You were my greatest mistake, I fell in love with your sin
Your littlest sin.

Thank you all for the welcomes!   I am not able to post during the day as I am working full time and taking night classes .....so I'm sorry for the delay.  Ihateyoumike, I understand the confusion but, after all, theists in my book are least concerned with the truth and more with comfortable delusions.   :-\

Hiii, T&W. Good to see college has helped you slither away from the lies of theology.

Though if you look at Tank's post frequency, you might doubt this statement.

Welcome.
Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

Ok, it's not a competition he can win. Better?  :D

"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

Thank, er, god for college. Theism just doesn't make sense after studying history, literary criticism, philosophy or any branch of the sciences. In fact, I'm not sure how anyone can reconcile theism with academic pursuit of any kind.

I agree, thus why you see very few actual scientists who believe in a god(s.)
