Whitney

Without you this place would not exist. This is not just the mechanisms of the forum either, as you are the consciences of this place. HAF exists and is different from all other forums because of you.

Thank you for all the effort you put in to give all of us all a unique and special place in cyberspace.

Regards
Chris

Jeez man, you have the mod job already... jk. :D

I too enjoy this place, come often, post seldom but always enjoy the read. Thanks for a virtual break from reality.

The Magic Pudding

It is time we said thank you to Whitney, her influence has been overwhelmingly positive.

Many will raise her support for laissez-faire capitalism which prevented the implementation of prudential regulation.  This regulation may well have prevented the world financial crisis, but isn't it better our markets be free?  Considerably diminished I grant you but still free.

But we shouldn't just sweep her indiscretions under the rug though.  Few pundits feel George W would have had the confidence to invade Iraq without her support, of course she has revoked her support in recent times but still her detractors harp on about it.

Coal has fuelled industry for centuries and I won't hear any criticism for her companies dominance in coal extraction.  Her development of the fracking process to release coal seem gas is truly inspired.

Her benevolence isn't limited to the developed world either you know.  For years she has been cultivating pro business governments in Africa and South America.  When local operators spill her precious oil into the sea does she withdraw her support?  No, not our Whitney.  And her drive to move industrial technology to China, yes she is a true humanitarian.

Her wisdom even extends to replacing inefficient long lived sea creatures with efficient rapidly maturing squid and jellyfish.  Food for the hungry and profit for the visionary, doesn't it make you proud?

At least I know there is one area for which we can all rejoice the gift of her unique vision.  Without her guidance and support for Rupert there would be no Fox News as we know it, I think we should all take a moment to thank her for this.

Over the years she has defeated all the prominent apologists for progressive causes.  Hitchens, Chomsky, Gore, Dawkins, Ralston Saul and so many more have all been unable to reply to Whitney in formal debate.  All we here are subsequent fanciful complaints about kidnapped and threatened families.

Anyway thank you Whitney for the Wedge,  The Tea Party and just ensuring science and reason can't interfere with the social order and profit.

;D Thank you! (maybe not for the Tea Party, but, you know, for everything else)
"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

I used to own online forums, and I can tell you that I understand the amount of effort it takes to keep a forum up and running. With that said, I say Thank You for  giving me an intelligent place to hang out.

An appreciation thread for the creator of this forum only seems fitting ;D Thank you, Whitney!

Oh good bloody hell, you can say that again. There's all the technical effort involved, but even worse is moderating side - at least that's what I found. It's nigh impossible to remain impersonal and level-headed all the time, first because people are just annoying, and second because you always feel that you're excluding yourself, to some degree, from what makes the forum fun for everyone else. I think that's why my forum-running attempts have never worked out so well.

So yes, thank you Whitney for putting up with all of us.

Thanks be to the creator.  Why are we assuming the creator is a she?  This matriarchal forum society is so unfair to men.

Medusa

yup yup. This is quite a nice litte place upon the internets. I enjoy hanging out here. Thanks! :)

I gotta say, I was having a pretty terrible week before I stumbled onto this forum.   Joining has really made my bad days go by better. I really feel a sense of warmth and welcome here.
I feel open to be who I am with my non beliefs, and not deal with bully or ridicule.

Thank you, Whitney!

Why the frown? Or are you like many people who don't take well to praise?

Although a bastion of all that is evil and against my better judgment (TIC), this is a place well managed and quite friendly.

Whitney, thanks for being the opposite of the Christian's preconceived ideas of what an Atheist is/does/"believes" as is many that frequent HAF.
