Internet ads with noise!

I simply need to rant for a bit. I can't stand internet ads today. I tend to have several browser windows open at once, and at least once a day my computer speakers begin to randomly expel vocal excrement. I then have to click through every window searching for what site might be the culprit. Sure I could simply mute my speakers, which I sometimes do, but it becomes a mission of principle. I have to try and find the site and close the window, while attempting to make a mental note of never returning to that site and boycotting the product. It's really annoying when watching a video, because I either have to find it or wait for it to finish it's stupid sales pitch.

Half the time they aren't even videos. There simply a normal looking ad that yells at me...

I agree with you 100% I loath marketeers that presume they own ones machine for their message!!!!

The ads with noise are the worst. A close second are the ads that take just a second more than everything else to load, and when you go to click on a legitimate link, then the ad loads and you end up clicking the ad instead of what you intended.

Pop ups suck the big one too.

I rarely have that problem. Do you use some sort of ad blocker?

The default one for Camino. It does a decent job fighting popups, but nothing else.

Adblock Plus does a pretty good job I think, the number of pop ups that would plague my browser has dramatically decreased since I installed it. I think you can even deactivate flash to deactivate flash video ads with audio, but this can be rather annoying if you watch a lot of Youtube movies and the like.

I do not use adblocks so that I don't have to bother turning them on and off depending on any given site's terms of service. However, I don't have a problem with ads yelling at me... Must just be the kinds of sites I visit.

noscript for firefox blocks pretty much everything annoying and is easy to override if you want to see something.

I have the stumble toolbar installed and will thumbs down any site that annoys me.

Argh, those are the worst!   I can deal with ads, but ads with a voice usually make me jump.

One of these settings may help, mp3 in Firefox or play sound in webpages for IE might work, without silencing what you do want to hear.

This probably would silence everything from you browser if it appears, my browser doesn't actually appear in the mixer.
