Hello everyone!

I have not been a believer for some time. Lately I have come to view religion as a toxic phenomenon.

With the rise of extremism in a variety of religions and the spread of violence, bigotry, misinformation and outright lies, I can no longer adopt a "live and let live" attitude.

I am a professional radiochemist (a chemist who works with radioactivity) and I hope I can contribute some useful expertise to these forums.

I have hobbies of renaissance music and canoe tripping (recently in the Canadian sub-arctic).

Many thanks for the welcomes.

Partly; it is my favourite sound.

In the context of this forum, loon calls often sound to me like derisive laughter, which I find an appropriate response to some religious notions.

Hello Loon, nothing's as much fun as messing about in boats.

Is this the place where i politely am going to say hi and hello without making it look like a junkmail? (since that is not allowed according to forum rules).

Seriously, its nice to be aboard, and so others signing up as well, we all start at square 1, right?

Hi Loon,

I like your description of religion as a toxic phenomenon. It really sums up the way I have come to think over these last few years.
