Hi everyone! My name is Rose and i'm excited to be here. I come from a very religious family, being Irish, and it is hard not to feel outcasted.  I've never believed in God, and I knew I was a lesbian by the time I was 12. Both my parents are okay with it, but my dad still likes to quote the bible "love thy sinner, not thy sin" etc. it feels as if he's mocking me. I was raped when I was 14yrs old and  just recently told my dad.


He seemed pretty helpful, until I asked him why it even happens and how he could believe in a God that is ok with people being raped. He told me God will bring justice, but whatever. Homophobia, rape, murder has shaped my views that there just is NO GOD. I use logic and science to think!

I apologize for my rant once again.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I am 25 years old now, and have been in a wonderful relationship for three years.

I appreciate forums like this existing, where I am not judged based on my nonbelief or sexual orientation.

I think I should expand a little on why I asked your age. I was concerned that you were younger than you are. I was worried that you were so close to the traumatic events that you were possibly searching for something beyond that which a forum can offer. I have seen that happen before. Good to see you are in a relationship and are happier now.

No problem, Tank/Chris. I see you're a senior member and want to respect this forum and its protocols.

I've been a non believer since I was a teenager, but up until 5 or so years ago, I didn't know thete was a proper term. Stll annoying the looks people give yoy when you tell them you don't believe a big, invisible guy in the sky is all knowing or exists.

I then calmly ask them if they still believed in Santa.
