Hello,

I am the Bullworker.  Some call me the Iso 7x, or the Bully Xtreme, but I am just a Bullworker.  

I was born into a religious family that wrecked religiously when I was about 12.  The only survivor of the life/religion divorce was me.  I had neghbors and friends who made sure I supped at the table of The Lord for many more years, learning about Jesus, and morality, and not looking at my female classmates neck lines when they were wearing scoop tops on hot days.  

For many years I lived the law of the Lord. Married a very attractive woman who was/is devout.  But somewhere in my 20's that first question arose:  Where did God come from?  I didn't know, nor could I find an answer.

Several questions continued to nag at me:  How can the Holy Ghost have a mind and testify of truth if he/she is invisible? Not too many invisible entities have ever impressed me, in fact, none.

I started reading Hitchens and Harris, Sagan and Dawkins.  Some of the things they write about I had thought of independently.

Finally one morning, as I was eating my scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice the thing hit me in the forehead, "As much as you want to believe, there is nothing out there!"


I think my wife has me figured out as I have yet to tell her.  But I still love her very much, and want this to be good for bothof us.  But I saw her turning over
"The God Delusion" the other day and looking at it.  I guess it is time that I break her heart.

Hmmmm, sounds like your in a difficult situation. Hopefully everything works out for the better. What I think many theists fear when their freinds or loved ones come out as atheists is that the person they were will change for ever. This isn't the case, in my case at least no one around me would know that I was atheist unless I told them. I have always been very liberal in my veiws and the fact that I stopped beleiving in a god did not in any way change the way I acted towards others. I did not sudennly stop caring for others, or become selfishly immoral. In fact if anything it did just the oppisite, it helped me take a stand on humanism that previously I thought may be sinful. Like tollerating homosexuality, it also caused me to be more aware of my actions because they were my own. I no longer had something to blame, or thank for what happened to me. I began to appreciatte all that I have more than I ever had previously.

Do you feel that you knew found unbeleif has changed your personality, or point of veiw, how you will interact with others, I mean yes any time you come to a knew understanding of beleifs all of these change slightly, but do you feel that it has changed who you are fundementaly?

If your wife loves you, shell take you for who you are religion or not. My wife is a catholic and she is slowly opening her eyes atheism. No offence, but religion shouldnt make or break a relationship; its doable even if she is really devout.. with understanding. Good luck though.
