Gerald has just been shown dying.

Inside the human body. This science programme on the BBC deals with the biological processes of life. At the end an 84 year old man, Gerald, is shown dying peacefully in bed. You see him take his last breath with 3 people with him. A death like this has never been shown on British TV before. This science programme is prime time viewing on BBC1. Fascinating and moving viewing.

That's a pretty big deal. Wonder if it will ever air here in the U.S.
We have all kinds of idiotic violence, gore, and unnecessary crap on TV here, but I bet the networks would balk at this.

I'm glad that it was done (it sounds like it at least) with care and dignity.

It was very peaceful and dignified. In his own home, or a good nursing home by the look of it. He had liver and lung cancer and sever anaemia. He was in no discomfort and in the last week of his life he had just lost his appetite. He was asleep/unconscious taking small shallow breaths and they just stopped. Three people were with him, it didn't say who they were.

Thumbs up for the BBC.

However, it makes a guy wonder... How long before someone wakes up with a light bulb over his head and makes it into reality TV...

I'm sure some sicko has thought about it, so far the idea has not been allowed to fly!
