One of Zimbabwe's leading junior athletes, who has won several gold medals in women's events, is really a man, police say.

Samukeliso Sithole, 17, has been charged with impersonation.
At her court appearance, she insisted that she was a woman, despite a doctor's report to the contrary.

Ms Sithole said she was born with both male and female sexual organs and a traditional healer had made the penis disappear but it had since regrown.

She told the court that the penis had returned because the healer had not been fully paid for his services.

Transvestite athlete jailed for deception in Zimbabwe

A male Zimbabwean athlete who won several awards in women's competitions in southern Africa has been sentenced to four years in jail for offensive behaviour, the prosecutor said.

Samukeliso Sithole, 18, was arrested in February after a female friend lodged a complaint to police, saying that she had undressed in full view of the athlete, thinking that he was a woman.

Sithole who insisted that he was a woman even after a doctor confirmed his sex, apologised to magistrate Oliver Mudzongachiso at the trial held in the central Zimbabwean town of Kwe Kwe.

He said he was desperate to earn a living as an athlete and decided to pose as a woman, the prosecutor said.

Sithole claimed at the beginning of his trial that he was born female and developed male sex organs after a traditional healer cast a spell on him when he did not pay for treatment.

YAK!  Sorry - I'm not buying that one.  This guy is a fraud, pure and simple.  Anyway - his argument is crap.  If the witch doctor changed him from a female to a male, then he would no longer be female.  He would be male - and would still be guilty.

That would suck if the witch doctor could cast a spell and change your sex though, wouldn't it?  Especially if you got to claim your sex as your original sex that you were born with.  Can you imagine the confusion on application forms?

Questions?  Yes - where it says "sex" - do you mean the sex I was born with, or the latest one I have after I stiffed the witch doctor again....
