So, as I write this post, I'm trying to enjoy my meal at Applebee's...but I seem to have just lost my appetite. You see, "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe just came over the speakers. As much as I can't stand it, that type of stuff is everywhere in my area of the world (oklahoma, bible belt, USA). It happens all the time. Do similar situations happen to you also? Or am I just being an ass?

I'm one of the weird ones that still likes some church music (I was in choir)...but it does annoy me if that is all they play.  The CiCi's pizza by me only plays religious music of the annoying variety. . .so we prefer not to go there (which is just as well because it's not healthy).

Btw, if you are anywhere near OKC or Tulsa both cities have atheist meetup groups.  The OKC group has been especially welcoming toward me when I've contacted them about various stuffs going on that we wanted to include them in.

Right on! I'm about 2 hours south of OKC but I travel up there often to visit my friends I made while I was stationed at Tinker. I have somewhat of a problem with crowds and meeting new people a lot of times, but I'd be willing to check the group out sometime.

I'm in Arkansas... it's just as bad here.  I remember a few years ago there was a huge fight over whether to allow the lottery in Arkansas.  The church groups were all up in a huge roar about it because gambling is just such a sin and we're on a slippery slope to hell or something.  The politicians that wanted the lottery figured the extra revenue could help the education system and provide scholarships to needy college students.  The state law enforcement (if I recall correctly, it was the attorney general, but I may be wrong) decided to go after the church bingo in reply since it was gambling.  That caused another uproar.  They don't want lottery, but dammit don't take away their bingo!

I've also never seen so many women with the same hairdo and the same denim full-length skirts and long-sleeved blouses.  Two of them knocked on my door today to try to give me Baptist literature.  I didn't feel like them wasting time and resources on me so I just said no thanks I'm atheist.  They got a scared look on their face and walked away very fast.  I guess I'm contageous or something.  Don't worry, I was wearing pants this time, not boxers, and there wasn't an accidental flashing like there was with the Jehovah's witnesses several years ago.

I would not be able to contain my shock if I heard Christian music in a store or something...well ok, every single store in the state blares Christmas music from October 31-January 4 every year...hm. Haha
Still, that would irritate me. Not because of the religious undertones so much as it's just usually horrible music.

As I work in a grocery store with a constant stream of music, I've become rather irritated when listening to any music that I don't have any control over.  

Thought I don't have a specific problem listening to music that may happen to be religiously inspired so long as it doesn't sound like crap.

So true are these words. Music took a shit on us after the 90s. It seems, to me, that good music comes along every other decade. I'm trying to bring good music to the mainstream scene, but I have yet to find out how to get it to the underground first haha. I wouldn't even know how to market it. Other than: good. Which seems to be disgustingly biased. I just simply label my style as "blues infused hippy music"

Because we want you to know that Jeebus died on the cross on calvary for you, and you,  and you....and you. our chicken is delicious and our views are repulsive. But our conservatism shouldn't be a shocker to you. Majority of america stands beside us in disgarding actual applied intellect. We recently supplied food to an anti-gay meeting of movers and shakers. We don't care if it makes every homosexual in america angry, we don't need them, they need us.
