Our beloved Christians celebrate 25th December in honor of their beloved savior Jesus but what they don't know, 25th of december is not only the birthday of Jesus but of:

Attis, of Phyrigia, born of the virgin Nana on December 25th, crucified, placed in a tomb and after 3 days, was resurrected.

Krishna, of India, born of the virgin Devaki with a star in the east signaling his coming, performed miracles with his disciples, and upon his death was resurrected.

Dionysus of Greece, born of a virgin on December 25th, was a traveling teacher who performed miracles such as turning water into wine, he was referred to as the "King of Kings," "God's Only Begotten Son," "The Alpha and Omega," and many others, and upon his death, he was resurrected.

Mithra, of Persia, born of a virgin on December 25th, he had 12 disciples and performed miracles, and upon his death was buried for 3 days and thus resurrected, he was also referred to as "The Truth," "The Light," and many others. Interestingly, the sacred day of worship of Mithra was Sunday.

The fact of the matter is there are numerous saviors, from different periods, from all over the world, which subscribe to these general characteristics. Looking closely at all the saviors have born on 25th December you realize very fast that Jesus was not so special. Maybe now many of us can find a good reason to celebrate 12/25 without begin a Christian.

To clarify:
Attis: 2nd century AD

Dionysus: 200 BCE
Mithra, of Persia: 200 BCE
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

As far as I know, there is no hard evidence that Mithraism pre-dates Christianity. At best, they were contemporaries.

If there are new discoveries in this area, please share.

I thought Jesus was supposedly NOT born in December... After all (let's pretend he existed here), the Bible doesn't specify and the shepards wouldn't be hanging out with their very valuable sheep in freezing weather. It was something tacked on later. Some pagan thing.

On a similar note, if I have to drive by that house (which I will, because it's strategically at the bottom of the hill aside the freeway) with the "CHRIST IS BORN" lights on their roof again... Ima... get irritated again. I much prefer the "Happy Birthday, Jesus!" Lol, that one cracks me up.

AND it wasn't until AD 350 that December 25 was the official date of Christmas.

My mom has made me read the Christmas story every year for the past few years, out of Luke and Matthew. And they are totally different. One says Jesus came from Nazarus, and one from Bethelehem. One says they are in Bethelehem for a Roman census from Nazareth, and the other says that Joseph, Mary and Jesus came to Bethelehem from Egypt, where they supposedly went to escape Herod's infanticide. Which the other story never even mentions! That's why I still enjoy reading it every year. I take pleasure in stating the difference.

Followers of Mithraism built this temple during the Arsacid dynasty (248 BCE-224 CE) by cutting a huge schist stone on the ground and making it an entrance 5.40 meters wide. A steep embankment reaches an underground corridor with a crescent-shaped ceiling at the entrance of the cave. The height of the corridor's ceiling is 2.5 meters from the ground and the corridor is 17.60 meters long. What is tormenting now is the presence of huge amounts of constructional waste, disgusting garbage and plastic which is scattered in all corridors of this unique temple. The central corridor has a lot of pits that connect to underground rooms with dome-like ceilings. Holes were made in many of these ceilings in the Islamic era for the reach of light.

Meh, they all have astrological beginnings, with the worshiping of the sun being the biggest component. Don't forget Horus and Osiris and all of that.
