Chlorophorm

A boulder sucked of heat
and dressed in frost
reads out the words
when moss aside, be sweeped--
Chlorophorm

And underneath lays crushed
a hand outstretched to clutch
a silver-ruby ring, with etched
the words of spring--
Chlorophorm.

Shall sleet prevail
on this rocky form,
and cover up the words
so written by a horn?

The answer,
as a thunderstorm--
Chlorophorm.

The March

The soldiers slowly stomped up hills of whey,
where barley by their side bent low to weep,
and angry heat scorched tired feet.

Up front rose jagged peaks of ice and greenery,
twin temptations taunting those with weaker wills.
Others, grateful for the chance at shade, stepped lightly
fast and lightly gay. Still more, those officers
in training, holding reins to warrior mares,
knew 'yond them mountains death prepared.

In the fields he'd chase them,
in the fields he'd flay them, route them,
them from earth and clay,
to which all return someday.

These are two poems that I've written recently. They've been sitting in my desk for a while, so I thought I'd post them here. Enjoy!

Melmoth

Lovely. :D I like the first one especially, even though (maybe partly because) the imagery of it is less obvious. Can't say I'm entirely sure what it's about but I got a very oppressive vibe from it, like being smothered. I'd like to read more of your stuff if you've uploaded any elsewhere.

McQ

I can't explain why I like both of these, but I do. I've just read them through for the third time.
Funny thing about great art, whether it be writing, painting, music, etc. is that I frequently have no idea why something touches me inside. And to me, that's just as cool as liking something in the first place.

Even if I don't particularly care for a piece of writing or art, but it still invokes a strong feeling, I'll go back to it again and again.

You have a gift, in my opinion. I just wish I could describe better what it is!  ;D

Asmodean

Nice! For obvious reasons, I'm more a fan of my style, but as a fellow poet, I give this thumbs up.

In Asmo's grey lump,
wrath and dark clouds gather force.
