Doctor Who's latest companion is unveiled

QuoteFormer Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman has landed the role of the Time Lord's new companion in Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed.

Producer Steven Moffat announced the actress will replace Karen Gillan's character Amy Pond when she leaves the show in the next series.

Coleman, 25, has also appeared in Waterloo Road and Julian Fellowes' four part mini-series Titanic.

The star said: "I am beyond excited. I can't wait to get cracking."

I'm sure Matt Smith is gutted  ;)

I guess, at 40, I prefer a bit of... experience in my objets du désir.

Of course I wouldn't kick Rose Tyler out of the TARDIS for losing my sonic-screwdriver in her time-vortex either...

I have watched only a few episodes of the 9th doctor, a few of the 11th and ALL of the 10th doctor (hes my fav. of the three)
I can say that my fav. of his companions was Donna, although I hated how they ended her appearance in the show

I tried watching the really old dr whos but it was just too boring.

I've watched every episode of the new dr whos that are on netflix.

I like Amy and Rory the best; not sure that either would be my fav by themselves.  I don't like Donna, too high strung for me.

Donna and River are definitely my favorite companions (though I like all the ones in the latest series quite alot, esp. the Ponds!).  In the old series, it's gotta be Sarah Jane Smith or Jo Grant, though I also like Ian, Barbara, the Brigadier (if you can call him a companion), and Peri.  Not too fussed on many of the others.

Netflix also has a spinoff series of Torchwood available.
