Hi all!

My name is Lennard. I am a poet from Holland. This is a poem I wrote about evolution. It's called "an Ape does not Believe in Evolution."

I did like it.It was clever, polished and  delightfully idiosyncratic. I pen a few odes myself.Maybe we could set up an Arts Quarter here in the Forum.
Some ideas are so stupid only an intellectual could believe them (Orwell).

That would be a great idea.

And welcome, Lennard!

Welcome, Lennard! Glad to meet a fellow writer. :) I'll check out your video when I can access it!

I just had the chance to watch your video. I liked your poem! Lennard, you have a presence and the gestures that would suit stage performances wonderfully. I hope you've looked into theatre work at some point! :)

Recusant

Hello and welcome to HAF, Lennardvanrij. It appears that you didn't bother to read the rules of this forum when you joined. You might have noticed the section labeled NO SPAM, in which a simple request is made:

QuoteIf you would like to bring attention to a project of yours (youtube channel, ask for people to take a survey, want feedback on your blog, etc.) just send one of the moderators a heads up private message first so we don't think you're just here to self-promote but are interested in being a contributing member.

It's just possible that you sent a message to one of the staff here before posting your link, and so I will leave it be for the moment, but I really doubt that you did any such thing.  Please take the time to acquaint yourself with the rules here. If I don't see any response by you to this thread in the very near future, I will disable the link (though will leave the address, so that any who really want can copy-paste it and see your poem).

Hello Lennard from the Netherlands.
I find retaining The Netherlands details straight in my head a bit bothersome.
It used to be to be Holland, but the people are Dutch, they speak Dutch.

Oh but never mind, welcome from New Holland.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for welcoming me to this forum! I'm very glad my little video was so well received.

@Recusant I am very sorry to have broken the rules already. You are absolutely right, I should have read the rules before uploading my poem. I do intend to contribute to other discussions, though, so perhaps you'll be able to forgive me in the not too distant future.

@En_Route An arts section? Sounds good to me! I'd love to read those odes of yours!

@Tom62 Haha, dank je wel! Aangenaam kennis te maken!

@The Magic Pudding I know, it's all very confusing, even to the Dutch themselves...  so many names for such a tiny country. Let's not even mention the fact Holland, AKA The Netherlands, is also known as "The Low Countries"!

@Amicale so you're a writer, too? I'm looking forward to reading your work. And thanks for the compliments!

Anyway, thank you all for replying. I'll talk to you later!

Hello and welcome aboard! I enjoyed your video, and hope you stick around for some interesting conversations. :)

The Pennsylvania Dutch didn't came from the Netherlands, but from southwestern Germany and Switzerland. They don't speak Dutch (Nederlands) but a kind of German (Deutsch) dialect.
