Too Few Lions

I just read this story and it made me chuckle. Apparently Ireland's once richest man, Sean Quinn, lost everything on the collapse of Anglo Irish Bank shares, and some locals from where he's from are blaming it on the wrath of fairies after he moved a 4000 year old burial chamber in order to expand a quarry;

Maybe all the anti-capitalist protestors need to do is invoke a few fairies from the megaliths of Europe to bring the system to its knees...

Fairies control the money supply.  I learned this as a child when placing my lost teeth under my pillow.

The real question is why a multi-billionaire would risk his fortune on anything.  The article said that he had a fortune of over 4 billion euros.  If you cashed out and put all that in a safe investment like government securities, even if you only get 1% on your money, that's 40 million euros a year.  Think you could live off of that?

I couldn't agree more. Give me one million pounds (please!) and I could happily wile away the hours for the rest of my life. He was clearly a very greedy man before the fairies brought him down to earth. Personally I don't see why anyone needs more than a few million pounds/dollars/euros, not that I'm ever going to possess that kind of money.

I do also love the idea of fairies controlling the money supply in the world, along with the gnomes (of Zurich)

The Magic Pudding

If I had 4 billion euros invested and leveraged so bankruptcy was a possibility, I'd put 100 million or maybe a Picasso in a Swiss bank, just in case.  If this guy's done this he wouldn't be the first.

Under strict EU laws all "fairies, gnomes, leprechauns, dwarfs, little people and equivalent entities in other member countries" must be licenced to impose any curse, spell, fatwa or geas.  They have to undergo strict  diversity training and health-and-safety instruction.

I trust these fairies were in compliance with the regulations.

Homer:"No! Faith is what you have in things that don't exist. Your awesomeness is real."

"I was thinking that perhaps this thing called God does not exist. Because He cannot save any one of us. No matter how we pray, He doesn't mend our wounds.
