Abandoned piglet is lost and hound: Giant farm dog saves baby pig's bacon by adopting it as one of its own.

A giant farm dog and a tiny piglet cuddle up as if they were family after the baby runt was dismissed by its own mother.

Surrogate mum Katjinga, an eight-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, took on motherly duties for grunter Paulinchen - a tiny pot-bellied pig - and seems to be taking the adoption in her stride.

Lonely Paulinchen was luckily discovered moments from death and placed in the care of the dog who gladly accepted it as one of her own. Thankfully for the two-week old mini porker, Katjinga fell in love with her at first sight and saved her bacon...

The dog. It is pig farming, is what it is. It probably looks at it and goes "Nah... Bacon too small" and so it's gonna feed the tiny Bacon and walk with it and read it bedtime stories until the time comes when Bacon IS indeed big enough for a meal or three...

This is a lovely and heartwarming story about the lucky piglet, but what about all of the other piglets and animals who are destined for the slaughterhouse. How can we single out certain animals as worthy of our concern and the rest forgotten and worthless, their fate not of our concern

One: How can we single out one pig in a sea of pigs? Easily. Just like I single out two rats among millions and just like most ok parents set their kids above everyone else's.

Two: The rest are not forgotten. They are dinner. Why would you forget dinner? (The answer would be priorities, I suppose, which is a politically correct way of saying "Skyrim" or "Revelations" or whatever else has you nerding around forgetting food, sleep and sex for wheeks at a time)
