There's nothing worse than narrow-minded intolerance. We've yet to see how the modern scientific age can usher in new thought to wipe away the dust of the past. With some help we can give it a running start. That's what I think.

I can't blame you for joining in as I sent you a PM suggesting it  :D
However I should point out that there is a 10 post 'probation' where we like to get to know people a little before we get onto the deep stuff!
So what gets Jonesboy out of bed in the morning?

Welcome to the club.

Hello and welcome to HAF, Jonesboy. I agree that narrow-minded intolerance is hugely detrimental to the well-being of our species. As Tank pointed out, we'll have to wait a bit before getting into the relative merits of a scientific view of the world.

I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here.

Tell me about it.  ;) I encountered it up close and personal on this forum. Please by forewarned: I've been condemned by the godly as a propagandist. Anyway, you are most welcome to our world, planet mayhem. The important thing is to have fun and learn a thing or two, speak softly and carry a thick skin and a big stick.

Do Norwegians have Neanderthal genes then? I have met some nice ones in Bergen. But their tones are funny. Have you noticed that?

Ah! I don't have a minion I simply saw Jonesboy having a look around and suggested he could post without fear. I didn't invite him from another forum. In fact the only member here that I have a long non-HAF relationship with is Velma who I first met on Richard Dawkins Forum in Jan 2006 where she was one of the first people to say Hi to me  ;D

Trondheim and Tromsø, I love them. Spent many a happy moment in both those places. Getting used to Trondheim in the summer was difficult. It reminded me of Erik Skjoldbjærg's Insomnia. No murders though.

I lived in Tromsø and found it rather disagreeable, mainly beause of the wind in winter and the mess of less-than-car-friendly streets on the island itself. However, the place had quite a lot of pubs per capita, a very nice cable car accessible restaurant, an aquarium with like... Fish and stuff and some agreeable nature not far from city limits.
