Floating City, Libertarian Colonies Close to Reality

QuotePayPal founder Peter Thiel recently invested $1.25 million to try to make that happen. By offering support to the Seasteading Institute, he has jump-started efforts to create city-state communities afloat on ocean platforms. In 2009, the institute held a 3D design competition to help people visualize what these sea-bound communities may look like (see photos above and below)...

A while ago I saw a TV programme about a hypothetical ship that was so big one could land an airliner on it that cruised around the world following the summer season. The crew would live on board all the time. It wasn't a cruise ship as the passengers (all hyper rich) would stay on board all year around too. Effectivly it was a mobile tropical island.

How can you be happily rich without poor people to look down on?
I think you'd need some paupers trying to eke out a living from the cities waste plume, whilst avoiding/feeding the sharks.

You'd just have servents to whip and wipe your bottom. No need for smelly beggers. But then I suppose one could employ a professioanl begger if one really wanted to.
