If you are anywhere near a major city we have pockets of the atheist resistance firmly planted in all of them..some even have large pockets ;)

I'm always suprised how hardcore US Christians can be.  Even orthodox religious folks tend to be quite private here in the UK.

Ditto for Canada, unless you are around Alberta. It's pretty much the "Bible-belt" of Canada.
