Yes, congrats on an incredible buy. I'm guessing the lens does not have vibration reduction. Is the camera body vibration reduction capable?

Minolta/Sony introduced in-body image stabilisation, Canon introduced in-lens stabilisation. I can hand-hold this at 600mm at f8 in bright conditions with good results.

A fortuitous find Tank! It's good to hear of such a salutary lust fulfilled. 

Thanks for the photo of the item in question. I appreciate a regular British interior, and miss them. I've replaced a couple of those radiators--fond memories believe it or not.

My attention as a dilettante etymologist was also drawn to "jiggery-pokery." It's common to British and American, but I think more used in Britain, hardly ever heard in America. Apparently originally British; the Oxford dictionary gives the origin as Scots/Northern "joukery-pawkery" with essentially the same meaning. Goes to Scots/Northern and Irish "pawky," meaning--

Artful, sly, shrewd; arch, roguish; jaunty. Now usually: having or showing a sardonic sense of humour; wry, quirky, subtle.

What stunned my was that A) the spell checker recognised the word and B) I spelt it right first go! I actually went back and changed a letter to see if I'd got it right first time!

Wow! That was a great find.

It was most definitely was! Not cheap but about 1/4 of the new price when it first came out. And it was the MKII version of the lens with a few little tweaks added.

There is an RSPB reserve not far from me. They have a large hide with bird feeders outside. The birds line up on the branch so you just wait for them to pose

Natural selection at its most unforgiving. A good meal from the hawk's perspective. It took a good 90 minutes to finish.

She spent a lot of time taking photos of this statue. She even climbed into the empty fountain pond to get a close up. I wonder why?

I like the raven shot. They may be scavengers but they are smart scavengers who apparently know how to capture the favor of humans. I do not have any of them in my location but I have plenty of crows who are also pretty damned clever birds.

We had a hurricane last October. I took down the bird feeder in order to weather the storm. Previously I had a lot of birds at the feeder. Since then the bird population has used my new feeder sparsely. Dunno where that are or if I have somehow offended them with the new  more easily accessible feeder.

Interesting. My neighbor has serious bake problems. He's had to have vertebrae fused twice so he can't mow their lawn. Thus he has astroturf. He has bird feeders but no birds feed from them. I have wondered if there is a cause and effect in play their?
