Loopy Christian college kid stabs himself at atheist gathering to prove God exists

I bet he thought that if he showed people that he believed strongly enough to willingly suffer for his beliefs, then therefore god.  (rolls eyes...)

It's like that fallacious argument where they claim that the apostles wouldn't have suffered persecution and death for a lie, so it must all be true!

I'd bet money that's what he was up to.

I think there is more going on here than the article covers.  There had to be some rather mixed up thoughts in this kid's brain before he was ever in the presence of atheists.  

This may sound harsh, but at least he only hurt himself.

Normal takes on a whole new meaning when one is overtaken by the holy ghost!  People get tongues of flame on their heads, virgins get pregnant, people get bit by poisonous snakes, a group of people will invite you up to the stage where they will all put their hands upon you and sign and praise loudly until they break into fits of random laughter, tears, and mumbling gibberish.  That last one was really scary.  It's why I didn't stay at the Assemblies of God for very long when I was trying to find the version of Christianity I agreed with.
