Hello to all. My name is David, and I've been a non-believer for as long as I can remember, really. And much of that time, I've had to answer questions about my non-belief that really seem mind-boggling to me, that people would have such strong misconceptions about what it means to not believe in God.

I'm glad to have found a forum that seems to have more people like me, rather than the types of people that would hold those of faith in some lower regard.

If you want to know more about me and what I believe, check out my my blog, http://oobiedoo.wordpress.com. The latest entry focuses on what being an Atheist means to me, though it's the only entry that makes mention of that so far. Also, even the not-so-keen observer will notice I shamelessly pilfered the quote from this site's mission statement, with proper credit of course, because I thought it was a pretty magnificent statement. :P

Thank you all for having me.

Cecilie

Hi and welcome to HAF, David. You probably shouldn't have put a link in your introduction as it is frowned upon.

Hi David

Ah, my apologies, but I didn't see it listed in the rules.

Well, I wouldn't know. It's been a while since I've read them.

Hello David.

I'm glad you've found a place to rub shoulders with your fellow atheists. Apparently, we're diabolical people. We have the morals of alley cats and we all wallow in our hedonistic lifestyles. If only this were true.

I'm just kidding.

Welcome to HAF.

Nothing wrong with a bit of hedonism  :D  But like all things extreme it's usually not a good idea to indulge in them to excess.

I agree. I always skip it on Sundays.

I just realized that I haven't said "hi" yet.
So, hi!   :D
"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.
