I'm contemplating why Walmart is disgustingly biased when it comes to their book selection. While getting groceries I decided to swing by the literature section, looking for anything by Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris. I noticed that they have an entire row of "inspirational" books...and by inspirational they mean christian. Not one shred of atheist literature. And also, I looked through the political books (I know, I'm not the average 23 year old)...I noticed they only carry conservative books. governor george w. Bush, sara palin, donald rumsfield. I vomited in my mouth a little bit.

Ye that makes me sick too, Sara surely should be in the inspirational, science and philosophy sections as well.

Yeah or about chick fila donating food to an anti-gay group's meeting. They're ignorant when it comes to their beliefs...but I sure do dig their chicken sandwiches. Though I've decided to boycott the place. I'm not supporting their nonsense anymore.

It's all about who is most likely to be at WalMart and buying books. Lots of Christians and conservatives (and those that like the itty bitty words of Sarah Palin) shop at Wally World.
No churches have free wifi because they don't want to compete with an invisible force that works.

Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

JuggernautJon

Ah yes, that's it. Thank you, kind sir.

Quote from: "Asmodean"Also, there was this 17 year old kid a couple of days ago... Jumped in front of the train short ways from my workplace. Cut off his head, if the rumors are to be believed... And me, I bloody well missed it  :verysad:
Wouldn't that have been in the news though?

Suicide, so no use hoping for better media coverage  :verysad:

Edit: On a less insensitive and slightly more serious note, according to rumors, the kid had some mental issues (Probably some depressive personality disorder, judging my the outcome) and, apparently, the sight that met the paramedics was not pretty. There was a mention of a separate bag for the head (Unreliable source)

Rumors also say that he was good at school and that he was a son of a police officer. I can give you the name of the deceased (from an unconfirmed source) if you want to do some digging.

Just thinking that saying that torture was in fact a form of disciplinary action is an insult to intelligence.  :drool

Also have never been as grateful for luck in my life as I am now.

Huh, only three sentences in that article.

As I said, suicide. They don't usually cover those well.

If you are interested, I can give you a compilation of town rumors - some from good sources, other from those prone to exaggerations - or you can try digging on the www. There is one forum post about it on some baby forum... Go figure.

Well, I do love town rumors.

Confirmed: One person died after being run over by a train

Reliable rumors: The guy was a 17 year old student, residing in Nedre Eiker
It was a suicide (Confirmed by NSB employee)
Pronounced at the scene (DOA)
A bunch of school kids witnessed the event
Kid was known for having issues

Less reliable rumors: Jumped on the rails from a fence
Son of a named police officer

Unreliable rumors: Head got separated from the body
Was hit by the train's snow plow(s)

This pretty much sums it up.
