The Magic Pudding

This story has been bothering me this week.

QuoteThere has been a crisis meeting in Adelaide as wildlife groups mobilise to deal with a liver disease killing the wombat population in South Australia.

When sick, the animals become bald, get liver disease and struggle to walk.

Researchers have found the disease is caused when the wombats eat introduced grasses which have overtaken their native food sources.

Waves wipe away thousands and I should feel, I do you know a bit but this actually hurts.

Ye I do but I don't feel like telling you at the moment, I'll tell you later,,,, maybe.

This is pretty much me every day of my life since I've started university. Good thing I excel under pressure.

I haven't even begun to procrastinate yet. If I get around to it, I'll let you know.  :D

DJ, like you, I work best under pressure. If you tell me "you have a week to get X done", you'd better believe I won't get around to X  until the last possible moment, even if I'm pulling all-nighters and drinking more coffee than should be legally allowed. But THEN, I can and will get it done!

The Asmo was pulled over by the police some short time ago for evil plots and criminal intent. Apparently, Old Rusty is suspicious in its inconspicuousness.

...That, and The Asmo was sort of driving on a quiet stretch of road and failed to indicate while passing another police vehicle parked by the side of the road.

In any case, no fine, no nothing - but wouldn't tell anything beyond "We are looking for someone", the nice policeman would. Now, The Asmo wonders what goes on across town, that involve two police vehicles at 1AM and a "someone"  ???

Our little guy has completely given up bottles and he's pretty much outgrown his sleep sack. I'm not usually one of those parents who lament their child moving on to new things, but it's making me sad tonight. He's not a baby anymore. </3

Sorry to hear that DJ, but he is probably pretty proud of himself. :)

What ever illness I had last week has returned with a vengeance and is totally kicking my ass right now. Worst part is that I have an English final in the morning that I can't make up.

1am? Sounds crazy.
Glad you're alright.

Got up in the middle of the night to work with someone brand new in a distant time zone. They were late for the meeting. Then they said they wanted to reschedule it because they felt sick. They then told me that they hadn't bothered to email me in advance to let me know they were sick and needed to reschedule because THEIR schedule was "too busy" but they just wanted to take 5 minutes of my time to "chat a bit" and get to know me.  ??? Mehopes this is not a herald of further actions to come. Sigh. Back to bed.  :P

Budhorse - hot whisky and lemon.  I keep telling you!  ;D ;D  Get well soon, anyway.

DJ, those milestones are indeed sad as well as encouraging.  OG's standard advice to new parents: "Don't blink or you'll miss it."

Nothing like a nice drive in the dark to clear one's head and digest the information. I was sort of not ok prior to it and ok, if with a massive sore of unsatisfied curiosity, after.

Best two pieces of parenting advice we ever heard:

1)  If your childs in a good phase, enjoy it.  If in a bad one, bear with it.  Both will change soon enough.

2)  If you need advice, seek out someone with a kid just older then yours.  They have probably been through something similar recently.  Grandparents have notoriously terrible memories, usually believing raising kids was all sweetness and light, forgetting about not being able to sleep for an entire night or eat a meal without an inturruption for six months at a time.

Hahah, in my experience, this is quite true.

Not all grandparents are like that.  I still remember the horrors from 35 years ago.

A friend posted this, it made me laugh: "I just LOVE horse cubs!"
