Quote from: "Tank"I must confess I'm not a great fan of avocado, guacamole looks far to much like the result of a very bad cold  ;)  They are so good for you though!

Quote from: "KDbeads"I've tried reading a few of hers and I couldn't finish a couple of them.  They were just too much for my little mind :D

I read so many different authors/genres it's ridiculous, I usually can read about 6 or 7 of these 400 + page books a week when I'm feeling the need to read.

To be honest, I haven't read anything from Kenyon since Acheron, and my opinion of that book was...meh. A little disappointed. The first half was like "How bad can I make it x 100?" The second half was too "typical" a DH novel for me.

Oh, a NY friend? *ponders* Well, since you like my stuff, I must recommend JA Saare. She's my crit-partner (and one of my writing BFFs) and her work is absolutely amazing. The re-release of her mega-seller, "Dead, Undead, or Somewhere In Between" is scheduled for sometime next month.

Hope you (and your friend!) enjoy Lost Wages!  :hide:

Quote from: "DeterminedJuliet"Hello Tuesday. Today the following is on my mind:

- Keeping our active son occupied until his nap so I can get my shower and have a cup of tea (ahhhh, tea)
- The latest Canadian election tom-foolery. I would really like if our Country didn't go down the crapper
- What should I have for lunch? I'm thinking a toasted avocado sandwich, but I'm flexible

Toasted avocado sandwich? This sounds so good.. what do you put on it?! I bought an avocado yesterday..

I make mine with whole grain bread, some slices of avocado, white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, maybe a few sprouts. Yum, yum. It's one of my favourite meals (and you stay full for ages)

Funnily enough, I'm not big on guacamole. I just like putting sliced avocado on/in everything.  :D

I have been told that jogging is good for one, you won't catch me doing that either  ;)

Do you know what the cause of the pain is?

well... I'm guessing its cause I'm (slightly) overweight... I am trying to loose weight but it ain't easy being a couch potato lol
But seriously.. I've been hurting for two weeks, because I carried my telescope from my apartment to the car. Plus my acid reflux making me wanna vomit (and it hurts) every time I bent down... just makes me wanna say "enough" and quit everything

Did anyone else watch the Canadian Leader's debate last night?

My Canadian boyfriend watched it, and mentioned the Liberal Party leader (for whom he is voting) didn't debate very well, and he felt frustrated that "the parties I wouldn't vote for seemed to debate the best".

I hope to be a citizen in the future, so...I'm hoping Canada doesn't morph into the US with backward policies :s
Stay sane, Canada!

Yeah, if Harper (our current Conservative Prime Minister) gets a majority government (pretty much giving him unchecked power), I am seriously afraid for Canada. I know he's tame compared to the right in the U.S., but I don't trust the guy as far as I can throw him. There are some really serious issues that are coming up for us as a country (our health care system is going under review in 2014, our pension plan is going bankrupt, etc) and there is no way I want this guy at the helm.

Actually, the majority of Canadians don't either, but that's another rant.

And he did do pretty well in the debate last night, which, yeah, kind of made me sad :(

You're certainly not as bad as us, with Fox News being so popular here, and people loving their ignorance but I agree...why go in that direction at all?

He just...looks like he's trying too hard to appear relatable roflol

If you strained a muscle moving that telescope then the muscles around the strained one compensate but that can be painful. Sounds like a trip to the quack is in order to me.

I recently bought one of those foam rollers people use for stretching.  I came with pictures of different stretches and one is for the back.  The one where you lay down with the foam roller along your spine with arms above head slowly lowering them to the floor helps my lower back a lot.  But it's also something you should be careful doing as getting into that position could be bad for some back injuries.  But for me it's the only thing that has ever been able to produce instant relief that lasts for a while.  I'm hoping that over time it will finally get all those muscles to relax so that the cycle of back pain can stop.

By quack he may mean chiropractor....but I wouldn't go near a chiropractor again if someone paid me; they brought me nothing but more pain.  You might be able to get a muscle relaxer from your regular doctor then just not do any lifting for a while.  I've never gone the muscle relaxer route personally (mainly because I'm usually able to get the pain to drop down before getting around to go going to the doc) but I've been told it helps a lot.  Careful of pain pills because if they actually work you may think your back is okay and end up causing more damage; not that they are bad...you just need to remember that you are in need of healing.

MariaEvri

ah I see thanks. I have one of those creams that warms up the muscle.. relaxes me for a while. I also have a few back exercises from way back, but I neglected them . I think I should start remembering them again. Do you maybe have an image of that exercise you mention so that I can understand exactely what you mean?
