Post-Apocalyptic or Current-Apocalyptic?

I've had an idea for some kind of essay or something that I want to write about why I would rather live in a post-apocalyptic world, specifically America, than the current world, once again particularly America. My current ideas all have to do with freedom and false-pretenses, and obviously the corruption of every aspect of adult life that I'm wholeheartedly dreading(I do, however, think I'm prepared, I've yet to meet a person I can't manipulate). I want to know what you think. Why is this a good idea? Why is this a bad idea? What could add or detract from my paper? Should I avoid something? Any particular rhetoric that would do me well? And lastly, give me any ideas you have for this topic, you can even have a grand ole' discussion, that would just make this nihilistic pessimist very very happy.

Also, if you think this belongs better on another board let me know, I am very very new.
