Hello everybody....welcome to my first post.

I grew up in a Christian household, but have always considered myself atheist. I wouldn't consider myself a closet atheist per say, but I tend to keep my beliefs (or lack thereof) to myself.  My family and girlfriend both know how I feel once any god related topic pops up....and I would say they are more tolerant than accepting of my beliefs.

Long story short, it would be nice to participate in some dialogue in an appropriate forum. Any heads up would be welcome.

Thanks for the welcome...

To answer your question, I am not new to forums in general.  In my line of work, there is a specific forum I am actively involved with.  In fact in that particular forum, many religious topics seem to pop up.  As I am not one to try to ruffle anybodies feathers, or be "the atheist asshole" on the board, I thought it would be better to find a more appropriate outlet.

Thanks for the links.... Whitney can set down her ban hammer, I will behave.

I'm going to surf around the site a bit...

Cheers

This place is interesting, less social than some I have been on, but more 'adult' in nature in terms of sensible, reasoned and reasonable discussion. A bit like the lounge bar in a pub rather than the tap or games room. People do not jump on silly statements made in honest discussions and discussions are generally civil. The only things that attract the Mods attentions are potential flame wars and people who have come here to preach and not engage in a meaningful discussion. Sounds like you'll be just fine to me. We have people well read on the bible and theology, biology and evolution, chickens and philosophy (Why did the chicken cross the road?) Members are mainly from the US but we have Europeans and Australians as well. While the forum title contains the word atheist this is not exclusively for atheists and we do have active theist members so if you want a reasoned and reasonable discussion with a person with a theistic world view here is a rare opportunity to have one.
