Do you guys find this video to be based on accurate information?

It doesn't seem to based on any information whatsoever.  No sources quoted.  Horus is the Sun anthropomorphized?  Set is the personification of darkness?

Very nicely done.  I've encountered quite a bit of that information before.   Though I never throughly researched it myself I have seen this talked about when people argue if there was a historical jesus or not.  Unless i'm mistaken Jesus wasn't the most recent one for this story ... however he is the most popular.

So you watched 30 seconds of a video then dismissed it.  Instead of just claiming it isn't based on any information whatsoever why don't you cite some non-Christian sources and explain to us why the video is wrong?  Ellanix did ask if this was accurate ... instead of just saying no which makes you sound biased why don't you research it then explain to us why the information is inaccurate?

No, I watched the whole video.  I simply highlighted the first two claims made that are false (which, interestingly, are the first two factual claims in the video).  Horus was the god of the sky, and Set the god of the desert.  This is basic information available to everyone - I am happy to dig out some references from scholarly works if you like, but it really shouldn't be necessary for such readily available historical knowledge.  The video does not give any references or sources, and I have not ever seen any such that justify the claims made (and they are claims often bandied about by Christ-mythers).

Obviously you don't believe in Horus or Set, am I correct about that? I mean, who does? But if you don't mind me asking, why don't you believe in Horus and Set?

But that's not an answer, Nathan. So I'll ask you again. Why aren't giant bird-headed humanoids not really your thing, in other words why do you not believe in Horus and Set? After all, the ancient Egyptians did. Were they wrong?

I suggest that you are not really asking a question (and certainly not one that has to do with the OP).

And I can see, without any doubt, that you are avoiding the question I'm asking, you're dodging it.

Forget the OP for a moment and just answer my question, please. Why don't you believe in Horus and Set?

Yes, yes, yes, but I wasn't asking you, was I? I was asking...what's his name, Nathan, the Christian, the new guy here. Looks like he didn't want to answer me. Boy that's a shock!

I've heard bits and pieces of this before, somewhere.  Think I'll do some more research on it one of these days ;)

As it was pointed out by another member the Ancient Egyptian gods were seldom a god of one thing.  All you have done here is make more claims without presenting a source or evidence.  If you are going to be critical of someone for not posting sources then please post some sources yourself.  To do otherwise is being hypocritical.  I'm not trying to be mean here.  It is what it is.

Now I can't help but notice you side-stepped the purpose of the video.  Unless you are saying the only thing you find wrong with the video is how the ancient gods were labeled by the video's creator.  In which case I must ask what makes Jesus more special then Horus?   Since I doubt that is what you are saying I'm going to ask again.  Please cite some non-Christian sources explaining why the video is false.  Is the author making up the similarities between Horus and Jesus?  If not how do you validate the myth stories of Jesus as opposed to the myth stories of Horus?

It doesn't seem to based on any information whatsoever.  No sources quoted.  Horus is the Sun anthropomorphized?  Set is the personification of darkness?

Egyptian mythology can be slightly confusing with the gods being gradually displaced and overthrown, but in this video, it is correct. He is refering to Horus the Sun god (Obviously, since he speaks of that god's legend, not the legend of son of Osiris, even though down the line the two are combined into one.)

Egyptian gods have several domains, so you saying that horus was a sky god and Set was god of the desert is incomplete. In the video, focusing on one domain made sense. Here, for you, it shows a gaping hole in knowledge. Did you know, for instance, that Horus' domain also includes hunting, war and power/pharaoh (in addition to the Sun and the sky) and Seth's domains include storm, darkness, deserts and a few others?

As for the video, it is well-made, but its factuality can be hard to determined since it is notoriously difficult to ask a 2000 year old book writer about his sources of information. I, for one, am inclined to believe that this video is more or less correct in its view of sun-religions.
