Hello, my name is Davin... and I'm an atheist.

I didn't become an atheist by direct choice, but by the side effect of seeking what is real.

I started out in life not believing in anything, but by the time I was 5 I started to believe... I mean who would make up stuff like that? Who would be so bold as to say that some guy lived, suffered and died all prevent me and everyone else from going to hell? I don't blame my earlier self for believing in these things, I just wish I hadn't.

In my early teens things changed, answers weren't stacking up, I was getting the opposite of divine revelation while reading the bible and I was wrong quite often in school. Some how my church buddies could do what I couldn't: they could separate their church beliefs from the sciences. So instead of trying to reconcile my faith with my knowledge (or at least leave it in a box somewhere in the back of my mind), I decided that I would only believe in things that I could verify. So I read, studied and researched for years trying with pangs of guilt to find some way of making the Christian god make sense... something I could demonstrate and verify. Then I gave up and just dropped the belief and all that went with it.

I stopped going to church, but I missed going to church for a few years after (even though when I was going, I hated it). So that's it, I've enjoyed many posts here and decided I will bore some of you with my opinions, so I registered.
